Hampton Roads is home to the nation's largest concentration of military personnel, with about 300,000 people including retirees, active duty, reserve and family members in a region with a population of about 1.8 million. The Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard are recognized through out the area, no matter if you are in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Suffolk or any other surrounding city, each community plays a part with our military
service men and women.
Some of the major military installations include Naval Station Norfolk (the world's largest naval base), Naval Air Station Oceana( Air Show location), Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, Dam Neck, Fort Story, Fort Monroe, Fort Eustis, Langley Air Force Base, Portsmouth Naval Hospital and USJFCOM.
Our area is surrounded by Military history, one of the historical areas of interest are the World War II Iowa-Class battleship USS Wisconsin located in Downtown Norfolk, next to Nauticus (National Maritime Center) on the waterfront.
